Welcome to Our Worldwide Bonsai Gallery

Bonsai is a living art enjoyed by people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. Every tree is unique, and every tree has a story. Here we celebrate bonsai enthusiasts from around the world, sharing photographs, personal experiences and the remarkable trees they've nurtured. From small beginnings to treasured collections passed down through generations, these are the trees and stories of our growing international community

BONSAI NAME AND AGE: Japanese Black Pine – approximately 28 years old.

SENDER: Hiroshi Tanaka.

COUNTRY: Japan.

STORY: I've had this pine for almost 12 years now. I bought it from an old man who was closing his small nursery. He told me the tree was already 16 when I got it. It isn't perfect. One side never filled in well, and I think I cut too much years ago. But I like it. Every spring, I work on it a little. Sometimes my grandson helps me. He's 9 and already likes bonsai. I hope one day he'll take care of this tree

BONSAI NAME AND AGE: Olive Tree – approximately 35 years old.

SENDER: Marco Rossi

COUNTRY: Italy

STORY: I've had this olive tree for about 9 years. It was given to me by my uncle who lives near Naples. He had several bonsai but was getting too old to look after them all. I keep it outside on our terrace where it gets plenty of sunshine. The tree grows quite slowly and I don't do very much to it except trim the branches a couple of times a year. Last winter we had some very cold weather and I was worried it might die, but it seems fine now. My wife says I spend more time looking after this little tree than the rest of the garden!

BONSAI NAME AND AGE: Chinese Banyan – approximately 60 years old.

SENDER: Li Wei

COUNTRY: China

STORY: This banyan was started from a small cutting by my grandfather many years ago. It has been in our family ever since. I keep it in our courtyard in Guangdong and it reminds me of my childhood. I try to follow my grandfather's methods, trimming it carefully each spring. It gives me a sense of connection to my family and our traditions.

BONSAI NAME AND AGE: Desert Rose (Adenium obesum) – approximately 18 years old.

SENDER: Yuki Nakamura

COUNTRY: Japan (Okinawa)

STORY: My mother gave me this little tree when I moved into my first house about 10 years ago. It was quite small then and had only a few flowers. I live near the sea in Okinawa and keep it outside most of the year. It likes the sunshine but sometimes the strong winds from typhoons are a problem, so I have to bring it inside. Last year I thought I had lost it because most of the leaves fell off, but after a few weeks they started growing again. It flowers every summer and the pink flowers are very beautiful. My mother always asks how her little tree is doing when she visits.

BONSAI NAME AND AGE: Mountain Pine – approximately 45 years old.

SENDER: Peter Müller

COUNTRY: Switzerland

STORY: I bought this little pine about 15 years ago at a garden centre near Lucerne. It was not very expensive and didn't look like much at the time. I have always liked the old pine trees growing in the mountains around here and wanted to try making something similar. I made quite a few mistakes in the beginning and even broke one of the main branches when trying to bend it with wire. I nearly threw it away, but decided to keep going. Now I think the broken branch actually gives the tree some character. I keep it outside all year, even when it snows. My wife doesn't really understand why I spend so much time with such a small tree, but she bought me the pot for my birthday five years ago, so I think she likes it really.
