What We Believe in at Bonsai For Life…
Bonsai for Life is a small, independent bonsai garden established in 1994 in Kuji, a coastal town in Northern Japan. Our beginnings were modest, with just one treasured bonsai entrusted to our care. That single tree became the inspiration for everything that followed. We believe bonsai are more than ornamental plants. They're living works of art, sometimes nurtured over generations, and each has its own story. Sadly, bonsai are sometimes neglected, abandoned, or left without anyone able to care for them. We believe these trees deserve a second chance. Our mission is to provide a safe home for unwanted bonsai, restore them where possible, and help them find new guardians who will appreciate and care for them in the years ahead. In 1993, our friend Yudai began developing what would become the Bonsai for Life website. When it went online in 1994, It allowed us to reach beyond our little garden in Kuji and connect with people who shared our philosophy. Today, Bonsai for Life remains dedicated to the preservation, care, and appreciation of these remarkable trees. For those interested in how it all began, we invite you to read Owen's story.
